I am looking for suggestions for a tent camping / fishing site to visit this weekend that is within a two hour drive from DC. I've been searching online and haven't found anything that exciting. I would love some recommendations! Thanks!

You might check around Pohick Bay or along the C & O canal. I know some bikers who like to ride up the path and camp at various spots, and these are probably well within 2 hours (driving) of DC.
You can get really rural pretty quickly by driving 2 hours from DC -- Rapidan river is right around 2 hours, portions of the Rappahannock, both forks of the Shenandoah (Andy Guest on the SF), etc. All have camping spots

Look into Cunningham Falls State Park in Thurmont MD. you can't beat the camping there. Also Big Hunting Creek is there along Rt 77.

A friend recommended Cunningham Falls. How is the fishing there?

The Rappahanock River Camp Ground is local (Fredricksburg area) and nice. Its tent camping only with water front and wooded lots. If your wanting to float the river they will ferry you up stream. Great place in my opinion. However, I haven't stayed there this year and when I tried to post a link to their website it appears to be dead. I hope they haven't went out of business. Here is the number if you want to give them a call 540-399-1839.

I'm 99% sure that the Rappahannock River Campground closed up shop. I tried to go back there this year but couldn't reach them. The phone line was disconnected and the website was shutdown. I think the property might be for sale. I hope it reopens - it was a great place.
There is a similar style campground (tent camping only in the most prime river front locations) on the Shenandoah river near Luray. Outlander's River Camp is only a few years old and has 3/4mi of Shenandoah river frontage.
I can vouch for Cunningham falls state park though. Great place. .

You may also want to look into Mattawoman creek. If you have a kayak it's great fishing and the camping there is ok too, it's only about an hour south of DC.
