George Washington was a successful businessman as well as general.  He would net shad near his estate in Mt. Vernon and would dry them for sale or use during the winters, which is exactly what his troops ate to survive the harsh winter at Valley Forge, enabling them to cross the Delaware and take the British by surprise.  Washington is the Original Shad Daddy.

We modified it with a shad and fly rod, and printed out stickers for last years F3T film tour.

As a Jersey guy, I feel duty bound to remind you that Washington and the Continental Army, after crossing the Big D on Christmas, surprised the Hessian mercenaries garrisoned at Trenton. A small but pivotal battle as it lifted morale and encouraged more enlistments. Used to be the standard field trip for 4th graders back in the day (and might still be).
