Are their fish, albeit small sunfish, small creek chubs (fallfish), etc. to be caught on the fly in any of the various runs throughout Arlington?

I'm looking for something with less pressure, and not in the mouth of the Potomac. Spout Run looks like it has potential, but I have never heard of anything. Windy run is not effective, I have tried that before. Then as you move north you have Donaldson Run, Gulf Branch and Pimmitt Run. I have never scouted these - any potential?

I fished Bull Run in Manassas last Saturday. Parked at Stone Bridge and walked upstream a bit. The fallfish were on the beds, and ferocious. They were taking wooly buggers immediately after hitting the surface, and had plenty of size to them. A few other small sunfish were caught as well. Not another fisherman in sight. Two people kayaking, and the parking lot at the bridge was full and busy, but not a soul was fishing.

Played around with the GoPro and got this shot, thought it was pretty cool! I'll plan to make the next beer tie and meet you folks, have been using info from these boards since working in Arlington.

not really anything to be caught in those streams except for eels. During floods the mouths of those streams can hold some fish but nothing upstream of the falls.

I'm planning to go to Bull Run this weekend. Glad to hear it was fishing good.  I'm sure that will end the second I pull up though.

Short video of fishing from a few weeks back. Nothing fancy, a lot of poor casting, but was my first time out playing with the GoPro. Battery died before I got on the fallfish.

Fun Scott -- I do a lot of small-warm-stream fishing.  You generally get the place to yourself and I sure think it's fun.

Nice. I'm heading there tomorrow. What are you catching them on?

I was catching the fallfish on brown wooly buggers. They would smash it right as it hit the surface. Sunfish were caught on a smaller "buggy" type fly. Pretty much my own concoction, similar to a stonefly. A few sunfish were caught on small foam dry flies.
