Mushtaq Sahib,

MALT is made by sprouting the barley, when the seeds are soaked in water, they germinate the roots. Sprouting is another miracle of my Allah's creations, with water & in the absence of soil, the seed takes ORDER from its LORD to germinate, the process yields the enzymes & carbohydrate is converted in Maltose. Malt is mainly produced for Alcoholic beverages such as BEER, & it is a tragedy that when we ignored barley, it is only used for beer making or as an animal fodder. Production of Non-Alcoholic Malt beverages also involves fermentation & the end product has at least 0.5 % Alcohol, due to fermentation, they can't eliminate the alcohol completely.

My opinion is that you should never consume such drinks.

You have the blessed Saweeq drink (SATTU), enjoy it at your home & carry in your journeys, Sahabah Radi Allaho Anhum used to keep Saweeq during their traveling, as it is easy to pack & Sattu quenches the hunger & thirst simultaneously, it is a powerful drink.

You may also try a milk-shake of Saweeq (Sattu), I made it once with Camel's milk & the taste was second to none.
