Winter

We enjoy the winter season as per our own desires, but let us have a look what Islam reflects :

أخرجه أحمد وبعض أهل السنن عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "الصوم في الشتاء الغنيمة الباردة"

(1) Narrated by Ahmed; that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said "Fasting in winter is a cool Ghaneemah (Opportunity)".

كان أبو هريرة رضي الله عنه يقول : ألا أدلكم على الغنيمة الباردة ، قالوا : بلى، فيقول : الصيام في الشتاء [وصححه الألباني رحمه الله].

(2) Abu Hurairah Radi Allaho Anh used to say " Should not I tell you the cool Ghaneemah (opportunity), the people said "YES", he said " Fasting in winter".

وقال ابن مسعود: "مرحباً بالشتاء تتنزل فيه البركة ويطول فيه الليل للقيام، ويقصر فيه النهار للصيام".

 

(3) Ibn Mas'ood Radi Allaho Anh said "Welcome to the winter, because Barakah (blessing) descends in this season, and Qiyam-ul-Lail (praying Tahajjud in the late night) prolongs & the fast (during the day) shortens".

وقال الحسن: "نعم زمان المؤمن الشتاء ليله طويل يقومه، ونهاره قصير يصومه". ولذا بكى المجتهدون على التفريط - إن فرطوا - في ليالي الشتاء بعدم القيام، وفي نهاره بعدم الصيام

(4) Hasan said " Yes, Zamaan (best time) for a Mo'min is winter, the night is long for Qiyaam & the day is short for the fast" and the people cried for neglecting the opportunity of praying Tahajjud in the night & missing the fast in winter days.
