uart sometimes not recognized

Hi all,

sometimes my computer does not recognize the attached uart.
I have to unplug it and plug it back.
Is it a known issue or maybe I just have a defective device?
In case of a driver issue: is there a way to upgrade its firmware?

this happens to me many times when i use the control center for linux.. but in windows it works perfectly... i dont know why.. :)

i use a mac, and the uart communicates to my machine without control
center, i did a sw which reads infos from serial port...
Do you know a way to force the compuer recognize it?
