My Ubuntu upgraded TB9 to TB10 over the weekend; now all web-mail add-ons are not working. I have tried installing the latest versions to no avail.

Here is the problem the add-ons are not visible in the add-ons section of TB10. The xpi's are in the profile folder but TB10 is not recognizing any of them other than the AOL one. This isn't just limited to web-mail add-ons either for Lightning is also refusing to working simply not displaying in the add-ons section of TB. I have been having problems the Gmail add-on for the last several versions of TB. Until now I was just having to lock the directory created by the xpi; now even this isn't working anymore.

I would post screen shots of this but I fairly new to the Linux system and don't know how to capture the screen images; yet.

Personally I don't think is add-on problem but is a TB problem but someone more experience with TB, Web-mail, and Ubuntu needs to look into this for as for now all of my web-mail extensions and lightning calendar completely down making TB completely useless to me.

It is good that I didn't allow my Window systems at home to upgrade anything as of the writing of this email.

I use Kubuntu 11.10 and also use Thunderbird 10.

I'm not noticing the same issues as yourself as I use Gmail, Yahoo, Inbox and Hotmail.

Currently I have confirmed the following :

Gmail - Send and Receive
Yahoo - Receive only at the moment
Hotmail - Send and Recieve
Inbox - Send and Receive

Webmail - 1.4.6
Yahoo    - 1.5.6
MSN      - 1.3.4

Why are you using the Gmail addon ?

It doesn't need one..

You can configure it without a Plugin..

Sir I'm not seeing the Webmail Client Installed..

You need the Webmail Client and the AOL Addon Installed..

That is the problem among others that I am having; it is installed in the profile but won't show up in the add-on section of TB10. The file extension id {3c8e8390-2cf6-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66.xpi} is the webmail extension. This is what my problem is; everything was there under TB9; except for, the disappearing Gmail add-on. I have repeatedly try to install Webmail as well as the other extensions, it goes through the install and asks for the restarts as usually just won't appear in the add-ons. I did not install in the directory directory but use TBs install tool.

There was several reports of what was going on with Gmail add-on but no one ever fix that problem either. I was using a work around here to keep it going until a solution could be found but it appears that is not even going to work anymore.

Got idea of something to try. I give it a try tomorrow if I get time and let you if it works. Either way I let you know by posting a screen shot of any error or other messages received. Just was too busy today with customers coming in to try any experiments on what is wrong.

Finally got around to trying my idea. It was the read only directory for Gmail that causing the problem. For some reason TB10 would not run any of the install scripts for the add-ons with enable.

I am still having to set the Gmail directory to read only for it work. Here a screen of the error messages that related to the Gmail add-on problem.
