This may be post in the wrong forum if so could someone point me in
the right direction?

I am interested in making some changes the Webmail and/or the Hotmail
webmail extension for personal use only here. What language is done in
or do I need to start from scratch? It appears to be a script type but
not sure if it is. There is few things that Webmail is not doing for
me and I would like to try to add them in here. I am not interested in
trying to publish my version just want try a few things locally to
automate a couple things or so as manually doing them is getting to be
a pain. The Webmail Author has done a very good job writing and
maintaining the programs but I interest in having some control of my
own here.

I am working learning how program the extensions but will take several
months to do so as I have limited resources to get it done; primarily
time.

The extensions are written using Javascript with some SQL. The GUI is
in XUL.

Eugene,

I do not want to dampen your creativity but there is just a small
chance that someone may have already invented some of the features you
want (by use of Thunderbird options or existing add-ons). It may save
you a bit of effort if you care to share with us the extra features
you are looking to add to the extension.

Thunderbird and the Webmail add-ons are working fine as they are; just
a few minor things that I like to get them to do a little better and
save my on-line time for something else. I have already search the add-
ons and don't see anything remotely like what I want to try. I don't
want to step on any toes so I think I will keep a lid on my project.
It want hurt me just to learn how to do it on my own time; besides, I
not planning on a release version a just an internal version which if
necessary I will manual add the code as I received new versions on the
affected programs.

Most likely I will do it as a separate add-on if my current train of
thought is correct if not then I try a different way of doing it.
Heck, It took a woman in South Korea 950 times to pass her written
driver's test. She just found 949 ways that didn't work yet she keep
trying and finally on her 950 attempt got it right. Thomas Edison was
the same way when he was trying invent the light bulb; just on trying
building on his failures. You don't just give up because you fail
several times; sometimes you got to try a different way.

As you wish - good luck and enjoy the learning journey.
