I keep getting the following error in TB, and none of my Hotmail
messages will download.

"The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and
sizes. Mail server localhost responded: negative vibes from
xx...@hotmail.com"

This error had been happening for 3 days now.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

The same has been happening to me for the last few days. No updates
to my software in that time, so it much be something changed at the
Hotmail servers. I can still access mail via POP on my smartphone and
via the web, so it is not an access issue. I've tried changing
settings on some of the new Hotmail web options, but to no avail. I
use the webmail extension since some places I work block access to POP
ports.

I use TB on Windows 7 & Ubuntu 11.10;
The details for both OS's are:
- Thunderbird 8.0
- Webmail 1.4.5
- Webmail Hotmail 1.3.7

TB reports:

"The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and

sizes. Mail server localhost responded: negative vibes from <my
hotmail.com addr>"

The Error console reports ("First > Last Sort Order"):

Yes, I saw that, but earlier versions worked on 8 but not on 7 or
something like that!
Fact is, I'm using TB 3.1.8pre.
Which combination of webmail/hotmail do I have to use and/or do I have
to upgrade TB?

It was the main web-mail extension that won't work. This was due to the Gecko engine changes. Actually there several different Web-mail extension versions that resulted from these changes. We probably end up even another version for the just released TB9 and then another one for the TB10 that is in beta testing already. Webmail wasn't working for TB9 last night nor any it companion extensions.

You should be able to just install the new Hotmail extension in your current setup without; Just don't update the main web-mail extension

Hello,

I am using 5. Tried hotmail-1-3-8b15 with web-mail-1-4-2.xpi, web-
mail-1-4-3-.xpi, web-mail-1-4-4.xpi, and web-mail-1-4-5.xpi
I get either "negative vibes" or "that's cool" errors.

Is there any combination that will work?

Do you have Https enabled on the Hotmail web-mail site? The Hotmail extension requires this to work.

One thing to note here is that Microsoft, in the past, has rolled out different versions of their software at runs the Hotmail service on different servers. This has cause several different problems that the Web-mail Author had to work through and this maybe the same case here.

If the Https is set to "auto" on the site and you still having please post a copy of the Hotmail log file; remembering to edit out your email address and password as many are able read the file and may access your account without your permission.

I tested with https auto on and off but neither worked. above log is
with https on auto.

After installing version hotmail-1-3-8b15.xpi the negative vibes seems
fixed but I'm getting the message "no new messages on server".
I have another account on hotmail.com with the same settings (checked
one by one) and it works ok.
Any idea?

Same here. Yesterday I installed 1-3-8b15 and it did not fix the
message number and size problem. Today for some reason, I am now
getting the 'thats cool' error instead. Apparently, there are some
install instructions posted but it requires RapidShare membership to
see. Why it is not posted here or part of the plugin install
instructions eludes me.
