I've completed the list of pets.

And someone is already editing it?

I'm so happy. That makes it soooooo much easier.

You and Cindy are great.  Thanks for the help and the site is easy to read.

Welcome to the Think New Orleans Pet Rescue mailing list.

I'm Alan. I've created a web site to help people organize.

Cindy has been been scanning the many different forums for missing
pets messages and has accumlated a list of missing pets and
addresses.

If you do not want to be on this list, please remove yourself.

Otherwise, please help make Cindy's life easier, by allowing the to
update everyone with a single e-mail message, using this e-mail
list.

Your pet should be on this list...

Thank you. Please go here. Not so easy to read, but getting it
out is the first step...

Two points.

See how it works? Because we have a real forum, we can make
pages that link to good messages, and pull good message into the
web site as documentation.

More important point.

People are discombobulated. Tell them what to do. (I'm learning
this, if someone is offended, that's pretty silly.) Tell them
what to do, but give them a choice, like in list, so people can
do what they do best.

But, SEND MESSAGES. Get on this list. And discussion.

Okay. Kudos are great. Thank you! Which of those items can you
do? :^)

Alan,
Thank you for your response..... I got home Monday and rescued two of my three baby cats.  I am thankful for the two and the third was twenty years old.  I am very sad that she drowned, but she had a great life and I took such good care of her.  Leaving them was the worst thing I have ever done.  I will never do that again.
Thanks,
Mary Lailhengue in Metairie

Thank you. Thank you.

I've created a page called "Getting In"...

http://thinknola.com/wiki/index.php?title=Pet_Rescue_Getting_In

If people can go to find me posts from the forums about getting
into Lake Charles, I'll format them and post them on the Getting
In page for foxmo.

Consider these questions.

- What food or suppliese are needed, and how much?

- Does the pet have special needs? Meds?

- Can the pet come back out?

- Reimbursment? (Don't set limits on your volunteers.
Foist reimbursment on them.
Think about it.)

Will you be going through Baton Rouge?  Do you have someone else going in with you?  I would love to join you and help and also search a 2nd time for my cat in uptown New Orleans.  I entered illegally yesterday and could not find him.  I'm terribly stressed.  Is that a possibility?

Good questions! There IS a lot to think about.

IMPORTANT FOR COPING! IF YOU MAKE ONE HOUSE "YOUR OWN LITTLE (or big)
PROJECT" IT WILL GIVE YOU A GREAT SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT - I PROMISE!!!

In addition:

Should the pet stay there? (not best with continuing evac's)

Does the owner need a foster home for the pet until they they can get back
on their feet?

Do they want the pet to get to them as soon as possible? This will require
making arrangements for ground transport or by air. (not everyone is
destitute and I feel this is the only reimbursement that should happen.)
Again, this WILL be extra trouble! That's what "volunteer" means.
