Hi all,

I've searched the archives a bit, and I think this one is new --
apologies if not.

We've been happily using Thinking Sphinx for several months now. Our
app works like:

* User adds a post; it's saved with delta=1
* Thinking Sphinx kicks the indexer, which reindexes the delta index
* User gets redirected to the entry form, which pulls the a list of
posts from the Sphinx index.

This has worked great in development and production for a good long
while. Fast forward to now: we're switching production web hosts.
Everything works, except:

Sometimes, after adding a post, it doesn't show up right away. A
refresh brings it up. Sleeping for a second before redirecting makes
makes it show reliably -- but isn't really a fix.

Again -- the post always shows up upon refresh, so I'm definitely
rebuilding the delta index. It's almost as though searchd isn't seeing
the changed delta index right away.

Anyone seen this before? Any ideas how I might debug it?

Thanks,
-Nate

Hi Nate

Does your new host have as fast a CPU as the old one? What about
memory differences?

It just sounds like Sphinx is running a little slower. In my cucumber
features for testing Thinking Sphinx, if I'm running some intensive
apps at the same time, then the tests fail because they only wait for
a quarter of a second for Sphinx to catch up, but normally that long a
wait is fine. It very much depends on the available CPU and RAM though.

Cheers
