Hello,

I'm trying to get stemming working on my app (portuguese stemming), so
I downloaded libstemmer from Snowball's site, compiled sphinx with
libstemmer (successfully)s, and wrote my sphinx.conf like this:

development:
morphology: libstemmer_pt

That causes:
"WARNING: index 'maid_core': invalid morphology option 'libstemmer_pt'
- IGNORED

I tried several stemming options that comes with libstemmer, without
success.

Don't know what can be happening, can someone help me?

Thanks.

Hi Murilo

Sounds like you're doing the right things, but just to check: what
were the configure options you used when building Sphinx?

Hello Pat, thanks for answering.

I configured with the flags "--with-libstemmer --with-pgsql"

Any ideas? I looked at the libstemmer directory after the compile and
all sources were indeed compiled.
Maybe it didn't installed right?

Hi Murilo

Did you compile the stemmers first, or Sphinx? Also, does libstemmer
have some way of testing stem files? I've never dealt with custom
options before, so I'm a little out of my depth here.

The stemmers are compiled parallel to sphinx compilation. I'm trying
to discover some way of testing the stem files, but I didn't find any
material on that.

I'll keep trying to make It work. If I succeed I'll let you know.

Thanks for your time.
