Hi Pat,
I just came back from a long vocation. Sorry for the long delay.
sqlquery_killlist does appear in development.sphinx.conf after I run
"rake thinking_sphinx:configure". So the problem I have now is that
the configuration is there but has no effect.

Hi Christian,
This most likely has to do with the way AR subclasses are reloaded
between requests in dev mode, particularly with regards to included
modules. What version of Radiant are you using? Can you reproduce
these errors in production mode, or are they limited to development

After upgrading TS to the latest version I'm not getting the TS error
anymore.
Unfortunately, I still have the aspell/raspell trouble, and I did
actually recompile it, despite earlier having completely re-installed
macports for Snow Leopard. I'm fairly sure aspell is fine now, but I'm

Turns out my range wasn't very big after all, as it returns meters. I
simply needed a much bigger range. All working.

Good to hear you got it all sorted - you might want to ensure the *.sphinx.conf file has the same permissions - which will be the case if you're running the index task with that user anyway.

Thanks again Pat, you were right on, I assigned ownership of the following
directories. Happy to say that I am no longer having issues starting or
stopping the search dameon or indexing from my web user account. I'm also
not having permission issues creating, deleting, uploading images etc..

Yes... Thanks Pat! This is exactly what I did. Looks like Is it best to
change ownership of files to the user running the web app? Looks like the
files in sphinx/production also belong to root:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4080 Jan 3 02:29 classified_core.spa
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 10625 Jan 3 02:29 classified_core.spd

Hi Travis
This is probably happening because you have invoked the rake tasks that manage Sphinx as one user (perhaps root, via sudo?), but your web app is running as a different user. Everything should be run using the one user (I recommend whatever user your site is run by).

Are you able to put together a sample app that reproduces this issue? I'm not sure if the fault is in Thinking Sphinx, Rails, or Radiant. Your extension seems simple enough, and isn't doing anything complex, so I very much doubt that's at fault.
If you can do this, feel free to send it to me off-list (or if you put it into GitHub, just give me read access).

Hi guys, I've had Sphinx and Thinking Sphinx on my production site for
a few days now and was just alerted to some issues when deleting
records. I think this is probably a simple permissions issue as
indicated below but I can't seem to find much information on what
should be set. Can anyone tell me if they have seen this before and
