Can someone give me some idea as the amount of fumes put off by the Afinia/UP type of printers when using ABS? I live in a small townhouse, and don't want to run myself out of the house.
Anyone in the Kansas City area have one I could see in operation?

I'm sometimes sitting in the same room where I print (OEM ABS on a UP), though it can irritate the eyes sometimes. If the printer is in another room it's fine though. Just nothing too cold (warping) or humid (aka bathroom; Filament may absorb water and prints have lower quality). PLA really suprised me, even my girlfriend who has asthma did not mind.

Come out to the CCCKC open house some Thursday. There are usually three or
more printers, in various stages of completion. There is also a KC
fabricators Google group.

I have one and will bring it Thursday. I ditto the invite to the space. You
will not be disappointed. As a slight thread hijack, we are hosting the
Raspberry Pi Make Magazine Meetup.
The short answer is all plastics have a smell in these printers. The UP! Is
capable of PLA with some mods.
