I have literally been seeing these for years, but i am not sure how prevalent they are in new buildings or houses...i would think that as long as USB is the way smaller electronics get powered these would be a big hit.

The only thing that i kind of worry about would be if you (or a kiddo in the house) plugs in something with a USB 'male' into a dedicated USB 'female' power jack...like my headphones or a mouse...what would happen? Ideally, nothing, but i could see the 'appliance' getting fried or worse the appliance and the person who plugged it in getting fried.

When you plug your mouse or headphones it into your computer they get
the same 5 volts, right? Why would the wall socket fry it if your pc
doesn't?

I doubt anything would happen if you plugged in a mouse or USB headset or some other USB device that does not require charging. I would think the circuit for the USB would know what to do. It would basically be the same if you were to take, say, an iPod that has the power adapter with the USB plug integrated so that you can either plug in the USB connector into your computer or plug it into the power adapter to be plugged into the wall for charging.
