Subject: Introduction

Hello everyone,

I purchased the Screencasting Handbook about three months ago, and am
finally digging in.

I was hoping for a more detailed section on workflow as there are so many
ways to go about it. I have a small recording studio in my home, so I
separately record the audio and video to avoid keystrokes and background
noise. My issue is the audio/video sync process which I manage to do pretty
well, however, it takes forever and I frequently find myself starting over
because I missed a key element.

I have read other screencaster workflows that includes Final Cut Express,
which I own, however, I am not sure what the point is?

My workflow is as follows, however, I would like to hear some others.

After the information gathering and a final draft to the client, I type up a
script using Scrivener and record the voiceover track using Logic Studio. I
then bounce an MP3 to my iPod and while it is playing I record the screen so
the audio and video are close enough that only minor editing is necessary.

You would think this workflow is smooth, but it is anything but smooth.
Often, I import my audio track into Screenflow after recording the audio,
and the audio is choppy. Telestream has no clue as to why this is happening,
but is frustrating, and time-consuming.

I have also read that the screen resolution should be set to 1024x768 before
recording, yet others say that this is a myth and doesn't do much for the
quality.

I would love to hear everyones workflow, and hopefully we can help each
other with some nice tips and technique?

Bryan J Zimmerman
