Hi Bjorn,

This is just a shot in the dark, but how easy would it be to modify
the thematic mapping engine to work with other base data? I have an
ideal project for creating the sorts of kml that it creates, but with
a UK-only dataset and completely different types of data. I'm quite
new to working with google/kml at all (usually working with openlayers
instead) but this seems ideal.

Feel free to say "impossible!" or "figure it out for yourself!", I
don't mind- I just thought the quickest way to find out if it was even
viable was to ask!

All the best, and really well done!!!

Hi Jo,

I've programmed the TME to make easy to add other data sources, but it
will require some programming effort. I've already seen a Brazilian
version of TME which retrieves Brazilian data from a PostgreSQL/
PostGIS database. What you have to do is to edit or replace the
TME_MySQL_DataConnector.php file, so it retrieves and returns your UK
spatial and statistical data. As long as this class returns the same
type of multidimensional array - everything should be ok.

Good luck!

Bjorn
