Janet Rady Fine Art presents:
RE-PIANO
A Diwan with Music, Poetry and Performance
Rashad Salim | Mother - Riverbank Stadium, 2010 | Inkjet Print on Somerset Paper | 21 x 29 cm
An evening of Music and Poetry to
celebrate the finissage of Rashad Salim's Sound Base Exhibition.
In the relaxed atmosphere of an informal Diwan, Rashad will engage with international guest artists, performers and poets. The evening begins with Rashad and his friends, Ahmed Naji Al Saeed and Hannah Lewis presenting a concise overview of the Re-Piano project. Blending in seamlessly, Rashad will then take the floor with his improvisations on the geo-piano, in the initiation of a reflective soundscape.
Inspired by Rashad's composition, a poetry recital in Arabic by the renowned Iraqi poet Adnan Al-Sayegh will follow, interpreted by poetess Jill Rock and accompanied with 'Ud music by the eminent Iraqi musician Ehsan Emam. After a short break when the session will open up, you will have the opportunity to fill up your glass, and view the exhibition.
The second part of the evening will resume with an open musical improvisation in collaboration with William Longden and friends from the Joy of Sound. The closing performance is provided by the Lebanese / German therapy artist, Fawzia Afifa's sensitive corporeal dialogue with the Dresden piano.
