Discussion
=======
Advisory Committee
* Andrew: some kind of groupware would help
* auto-extend 3-month period if the person in the position can stay on?
* Add documentation chair and volunteer coordinator? Combine them? Is
6 positions too much?
* Bernie suggests taking a fresh look at hackerspace design strategies.
Hackerspaces.org templates
* Rotate quarterly?
* 1 month notice for outgoing members to get the next person acclimated
* Recruit: put out announcement in newsletter, nominations at March's
meeting, start in April. If more than one person wants a role either
vote or offer another unfilled position
* Everyone please email a few people to ask if they would be interested
in being on the advisory committee
* Recruit for student interns? Maybe have more vetted chairs and allow
them to delegate to interns
* We should add a page to the website for these roles. Andrew will take on
Communication Policy
* There was a situation where a handyman repaired a window and the cost
and work wasn't clear
* In the future, if there's a project that requires money, send an
email with a subject line that indicates money or time sensitivity
* But in general, if someone wants to take initiative and wants
feedback, email the group asking for feedback by a certain date. If no
response, go for it.
O'Reilly ads
* We can get free books if we put their ads on the website. Sidebars,
banner ads, in newsletter
* Slippery slope to put advertising on website, but free books could
come in very handy
* No major opposition so Andrew will follow up. We'll take advertising
on a case-by-case basis
* Georgia will send Bernie contact info for O'Reilly and he'll find out
what other spaces have done
Philly Tech Week
* Easy happy hour event with Blue Cadet. They want to have an event
featuring a Max/MSP project. We can then run a class on Max/MSP
* Georgia will say yes to Blue Cadet
* A tech-mask party would be a nice kick-off for a revived Make Philly.
Early summer? Sarah and Leslie are interested
Website updates:
* Sarah started art/tech interview series with artists who use tech
* Georgia fixed slider images
* Andrew will take on profiles of Advisory committee
Door design
* Georgia made a magnetic sign for a temp solution. But someone eated it.
* Need new doorbell. Would be nice to have an rfid door opener but
it's kind of a pain and not necessarily secure
Let me know when this is ready:
