Gardner's syndrome is a familial disease consisting of
gastrointestinal polyposis and osteomas associated with a variety of
benign soft tissue tumors and other extraintestinal manifestations. We
now know that FAP and Gardner's syndrome are variable manifestations
of a disease caused by mutations of the APC gene. By considering
Gardner's syndrome in terms of a family unit rather than for a
specific, affected individual, the physician will be alerted to the
increased risk for the development of colorectal tumors as well as the
possibility of extracolonic manifestations. A detail review of the
