excitement with our participation in the Mildreds Umbrella production of 365
Days, 365 Plays, we were a bit exhausted, and needed a break.
But we're back! Here are the announcements... read them and weep!
This Friday, May 4th, we'll be at Brasil on the corner of Westheimer and
Dunlavy, around 10:00 or so, playing a nice little set for you to enjoy your
foccacia bread to. Come on out! It's free!
Saturday we'll be celebrating our friend Lara's earning a PhD in
Epidemiology. Beat that!
Also, our man Mike "Kid Ornery" Switzer (trombone, percussion, voice) will
be ACTING! Yes, he acts too. He'll be in the following play, which he
strongly recommends you come check out:

Directed by Mark Carrier
STORY
Subtitled "Scenes from a Russian Life," The Lower Depths premiered on
December 18, 1902 at the Moscow Arts Theatre under Stanislavski's direction,
and quickly became the hallmark of Russian Socialist Realism. Gorky focuses
on the daily tribulations of a group of lower-class citizens forced by their
circumstances to rent out mere square feet in a small, squalid tenement.
Being denied opportunity and forced into conditions that have killed any
faith they had in themselves, they eagerly accept the comforting lies of the
newest member of their little community. By pushing aside the harsh truth,
they hope to hide themselves from the bleak reality of their conditions.
Through the characters' motives and thoughts, Gorky indicts a perverse
civilization that dooms thousands as superfluous and unnecessary in society.
