I'm having issue with our cobranet network and know someone here will know the solution.
I'll explain the network then ask the question:
Yamaha M7 cobranet card: 'Primary' output goes to a network switch. That switch feeds a Whirlwind C08a and also sends a feed to another switch at our amp racks which feeds a QSC Rave 160. 'Secondary' output of M7 goes directly to the switch with the Rave.
Here's my problem: as connected above, I got no audio to the Rave. If I unplug the 'Primary' output, the Rave gets audio. I could function like this but I need the Whirlwind box also.
I have checked all the cables (I think I got them all. Its just me doing the work and on 2 hours of sleep so I could have missed one in running around with the tester).
Interestingly, when I do unplug 'Primary' the 'Secondary' becomes the conductor, but the 'Primary' is not when connected. I am not sure what is the conductor in that scenario.
I know I am missing something stupid easy but my brain has started to cease functioning.

The secondary port is not meant to be used along with the primary simultaneously.  It is only a backup to the primary and will not be active unless the primary link goes down.  Simply seeing a switch will indicate an active link to that port.  If the primary goes down and the system switches to the secondary port it will stay there even if the primary link is restored.  In order to restore the system completely back to the primary link you would have to disconnect the secondary link to force it back or power cycle the system.  If you need to go to two different places have the primary hit a switch first and then use the switch split off feeds to go where you need to.  Hope that helps.

Are you sure that the first 'switch' connected to the Whirlwind box is
really a switch and not a router?

Absolutely. I am trying to build some backups into the system. My theory - primary output sends to all distribution points. Should something happen or fail, we would switch to the secondary which goes only to the amp rack. Thirdly, should all that fail, we have an analog backup snake run also to the amp rack.

Yeah. Same make and model of the other switch.
Figured it out BTW. Turns out one of the runs had a loose connection that connected itself when I put in in the tester but the way the cable hangs out of the jack caused it to come unconnected enough. Sometimes its the stupid things. I'm chalking it up to "Important safety note. Thanks Egon." category and maybe shouldn't be crimping cat5 at 230am after soldering for 18 hours.

Thanks for the help!
