** PRIORITY **


The last 24 hours has seen little change with Tropical Storm Isaac. The
storm continues to remain just below hurricane strength. Movement has
slowed to less than 10 MPH but is now headed on a course of 310 degrees,
or Northwest.

On its present course Isaac is expected to make landfall between New
Orleans and Houma Louisiana. This will put the strongest portion of the
storm, including rain and storm surge, directly over New Orleans.

The Tropical Storm Watch has been extended into Texas from High Island to
the Sabine River. Residents of Southeast Texas should remain vigilant and
continue to monitor the projected path of the storm.

Power outages are expected to reach into Texas as far as Liberty County.

ARES members are requested to monitor the various traffic nets for Health
and Welfare traffic destined for our area. Since the power outages are
expected to extend into Texas it may be advisable to also monitor the
Saltgrass repeater system for local traffic.


The Houston ARC reports no Red Cross shelters are open and none are being
considered at this time. The closest ARC shelters are in the Dallas/Ft.
Worth and Lufkin areas.

The Montgomery County EOC remains at level 4 Alert and is being monitored
remotely. There is no expectation at this time that the EOC will be
activated.

The National Hurricane Center expects the next advisory to be issued at
1:00 p.m. local time.

Isaac was upgraded to a Hurricane a few minutes ago.

RECONNAISSANCE DATA INDICATE ISAAC FINALLY ACHIEVES HURRICANE
STATUS...

REPORTS FROM AN AIR FORCE RESERVE HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT 
INDICATE THAT MAXIMUM WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH ISAAC HAVE INCREASED 
TO 75 MPH...120 KM/H. ON THIS BASIS...ISAAC IS BEING UPGRADED TO 
A HURRICANE.
