qualitative text analysis software recommendations? 
  Hi, I know there are a lot of conflicting ideas out there about the best kind of qualitative textual analysis software, but I'd welcome any recommendations here -- particularly with regard to the pros and cons of, say, Atlas.ti vs. an open-source alternative like TAMS Analyzer? Interesting Relevant Post: Just say no to work after 5:30 pm 
  Readers may be interested in this post [link] written by Cal Newport who is just finishing his postdoc at MIT. His method is to reduce commitments to the minimum so that he can stop his academically-related work at 5:30 pm on weekdays. In my opinion, he underestimates workload for those on the tenure track where after hours commitments are common. Still work reading.... more »

What typing short-cuts do you use? 
  I am trying to use more automatic typing short-cuts to respond to student and colleague email. On the Mac this includes TextExpander and Typinator. On Windows (I think) it is AutoHotkey.
