Has anyone tried Ulysses for distraction free academic writing? It is
now $62.70 US and has been updated to version 2.0. You can try a trial
at

Its closest competitor is Scrivener which is $40. I am not certain but
I think Ulysses provides the best LaTeX generation. Can someone
collaborate this?

I bought it in version 1, but ended up not using it much. The
distraction-free aspect was attractive, but then lots of software got
full-screen mode. I suspect, even though the features have been beefed
up a bit, I'd end up regretting paying the money for the upgrade. I
guess it's just not the kind of software that I need. I've also tried
Scrivener but didn't like it, even though reading the description it
looked very attractive. The software that is nearest to fitting the
way I want to work is Selenium (Mac OS X only) (
http://www.stuffediggysoftware.com/selenium.html ). The vision of the
developer is quite impressive, but I get the impression it's a bit of
a hobby for him. He's obviously very skilled but the program is a bit
unpolished.

I'm afraid I don't use LaTeX, so I can't corroborate your impression
on Ulysses output.
