Women Of Rock Named Top KC Theater Production of 2010
The Barn capped off another terrific season of theater with a KC Stage Award! Women Of
Rock was named the top Kansas City Theater Production Of 2010
by theater-going audiences in a poll done by KC Stage magazine.

EVITA opens March 4 at The Barn!
Argentina's controversial First Lady is the subject of this dynamic
musical masterpiece. As an illegitimate fifteen year old, Eva escaped
her dirt-poor existence for the bright lights of Buenos Aires. Driven
by ambition and blessed with charisma, she was a starlet at twenty-
two, the president's mistress at twenty-four, First Lady at twenty-
seven, and dead at thirty-three. Eva Peron "saint to the working-
class, reviled by the aristocracy and mistrusted by the military" was
destined to leave a fascinating political legacy unique in the 20th
century. Told through a compelling score that fuses haunting chorales
with exuberant Latin, pop and jazz influences, EVITA creates an
arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself.

The Barney Awards Are Back at The Barn!
We've reinstated The Barney Awards for the 2011 season. A jury of 8
professional actors and directors will present awards for best
production, best lead actor and actress, best supporting actor and
actress, best directo,r and best technical awards. All 6 shows in our
2011 season will be judged, helping us achieve even higher levels of
excellence in theater production and allow us to acknowledge the great
talent involved in all aspects of our productions. Read more about the

Volunteer Appreciation Reception

Harkleroad and Volunteer of the Year April Bishop
On January 29th we held our first Volunteer Appreciation Reception
at The Barn. Volunteers who helped us thoughout the year in the box
office, selling concessions, taking tickets, and handing out programs
were honored as being an integral part of the organization. Catering
was provided by Alter Ego Catering with the centerpiece being a cake
replicating The Barn logo.
Special recognition was given to Ms. April Bishop, our 2010
Volunteer of The Year. Ms. Bishop is the Cultural Arts Coordinator
for the city of Leawood. In spite of her busy schedule, she always
has time for The Barn. She has literally volunteered in every
capacity at The Barn and was recently trained to act as a House
Manager.
The Barn is grateful to have April and all the rest of our
