Subject: Shifting Text AND Document-Switch = colliding shortcuts

Hi

I'm using TextWrangler on a German System.

The Shortcut for [/] is Alt & 5/6  (the german keyboard doesn't have a key
for direct access of [ )

So when i mark some lines and try to shift them left/right, i have to press
Cmd & Alt & 5/6...
BUT that's also the shortcut for previous/next Document.

So when i only have one file open, shifting text works perfect, but when
there are multiple files open, I'm only able to change documents with this
shortcut.

What can i do?

Simon

Hi,

yes, this issue can occur anywhere when modifier keys and ‘foreign’
keyboards are involved.

One way that should work is to re-assign the shortcuts either inside TW
(Prefs > Menus & Shortcuts) or in the System Prefs > Keyboard > Keyboard
Shortcuts.

I know it's kinda overkill for your issue, but you may consider the general
solution of switching your (software) keyboard (also known as ‘input
source’).
I’ve been using U.S. With Umlauts via Option Key (
http://hci.rwth-aachen.de/USGermanKeyboard) as my main keyboard for some
years now.

Another general option is to re-assign [ and ] to other keys using tools
such as Keyboard Maestro.

OK, i solved the problem the way, i defined new shortcuts for previous/next
document (Cmd&Alt&Arrow up/down) - that works perfect for me!

thanks!
