I am posting at least once a day. Good stuff too. The Facebook Texas Psych group has significant activity. I don't know about this one.

Here's one for ya...

What do people think the 13th Floor Elevators would have sounded like,
had they been able to continue into 1969 and the early 70's.

I think Tommy Hall might have ended up leaving the band, at least as
an integral member, before much longer anyway... Between his interests
in other things, the jug sound probably being ruled passe', and his
losing ground with people because of an increasingly evangelistic
bent.

I picture the Elevators dropping the "13th Floor" part of the name
eventually and just going with The Elevators or some derivative, and
getting into heavier sounds starting from where 'It's You' (f.k.a. I
Don't Ever Want to Come Down) left off.

But would they have had any similarities to or taken a direction a-la
Bubble Puppy/Demian or Josephus, or even say, early ZZ-Top? I (like I
guess most people) feel certain that Stacy Sutherland would have gone
on to be a much bigger legendary Texas guitarist with or without the
Elevators. Who might he have taken up with if he left the band with
things in a more stable condition.

I think Roky would have gradually edged-in some of the "horror"
element that he really got into with his later solo thing, too.
Sometimes I feel like you can sort of see that stuff coming, listening
to some of their songs, especially say, Kingdom of Heaven.

Your thoughts.... ?

Does Rusk happen or not?

KOH was an early Powell St. John tune and I've never heard that as
even remotely spooky, just reverent.

Kevin--
Till now you seriously considered yourself to be the body and to have a
form. That is the primal ignorance which is the root cause of all trouble.

Rusk doesn't happen. Trials and tribulations yes, but no long
incarcerations that kept them apart.

PSJ's song... Elevators' stamp all over it. Very "supernatural"
sounding to me.

I think they would have lost most of their Mythos.
They would have started sounding commercial and puerile, hence it is something I would avoid contemplating.
