If you have completed Richard Louv's new book and are in the market for
an informative and compelling read check out "The Tiger" by John
Vaillant.
The book deals with a true Siberian tiger story. Vaillant covers a lot
of ground and is to be applauded for retelling the story while
integrating rich background information.
If you only have 10 minutes please read the epilogue. The message is
meaningful to the Texas Children in Nature Coalition as work is ahead to
provide sustainable access to wild-scapes, both urban and rural, for
current and future generations.
Enjoy and hope to see you soon - Steve
PS: A big thanks to all for your support of Green Ribbon Schools. At the
beginning of July 232 Texas schools and a total of 250 schools from 13
states were registered. There is strong interest in other countries to
participate, which are awaiting us raise resources to support capacity
and features. If you know organizations who may be interested in
supporting Green Ribbon Schools in Texas, the US and in other countries
please let us know as we are now having to tell folks "later". Thank
you
Steve Amos

The National Coalition for Campus Children's Centers (NCCCC) will hold their annual conference at the Sheraton in Austin, March 29-31, 2012. We are planning to address the group on March 31 on the subject, "Playgrounds and Natural Habitats: A Magical Combination." This will be followed by a tour of schools that have developed integrated indoor/outdoor play and learning environments that focus on health, fitness, and experiential learning. We have already selected one Green Ribbon School and would like to visit another that is well along in their Green Ribbon program.
Do you own a kayak? Thanks again for the kayak tour of Lady Bird Lake. We must find ways to preserve that magical adjacent wilderness. I want to show you another local waterway that will excite your senses!
Best wishes,
Joe
