Smoke/Ride

Any ideas out there as to will the ride take place? I was planning to
leave for Ca today, but have pushed the trip back until Sat the 12th.
Any gut feelings? I have @850 miles to get there, and I can't really
wait until the 16th to leave? I don't live in Ca, so does anyone
think that the ride is ok and will still go on? I have over come
tons, like alot of us have to get to this ride, and fire and smoke was
not something I planned for. Stuck in AZ!!!!!!! Glued to the
enternet adn the Weather cannel!

Brenda,

Everyone is anxious, although some of us don't have to drive as far as you do.  Since you are not planning to leave until Saturday, you and everyone should know more after the Thursday meeting and announcement.  Your horse is probably happier at home and better off, anyhow, esp. with the changing smoke situation here in CA and the fact that the road to Robinson Flat is closed.

You might want to check this web site out : www.yubanet.com it gives the fire news for Nevada county and placer county and Lake Tahoe Basin .  If you go to www.noaa.gov. it will give you a up to date great satellite photo of any of the surrounding areas.

 

The sad thing is the gov. springs fire is North of the American river and it's burnt more than 6500 acres and it's only 10% contained, then there is the West Ville fire gov. springs fire and it's only 15 % contained and it's burned almost 3000 acres, the pv - vine fire is contained and it only burned 552 acres. If you want to call for air quality in  Placer County the # is 530-478-6101, and for Nevada county the #  is 530-274-9360. These people have been very help full and if you specify a certain location  and

they don't have the info they can give you a # that will cover that location!
