Trying to find this storyteller who I used to listen on audio tape

This guy was a brilliant storyteller. He was incredibly and my dad
gave me this tape so long ago when I was kid that going to bed and
listening to this tape was the best thing out of the day. I'm really
hoping someone else has listened to this audio tape.

The story is about neighbors or friends and not standing up for each
other. The first time it happened, the person thought someone else
would take care of it. The neighbor was put in jail. It kept
happeing until there was only 1 person left.

He finally said to himself, who will stand up for me now?

dark stories and homogeneity in storytelling

Though I can tell any type of story, my preference (by far) is humorous stories for children, and dark/scary/horror stories for adults.
I get a LOT of opportunities to tell humorous stories to kids (being a librarian helps), but have only had two or three good opportunities to tell dark/scary/horror ones to adults (and even then, half the audience was kids).

sadly, there is a homogeneity among the storytelling circuit among the
types of stories that get told, and dark stories, even ones that have
been told for thousands of years, aren't welcome.

I remember a program like that. I did find it interesting. I heard there was going to be another one as well coming up in the future.

There wa s a great program on VH1 or maybe MTV years ago called Storytellers. the artists played their most popular songs and told anecfotes about the songs.

I do "perform" at a local theater. We have regulars who do the more
traditional monologues and while I have done that sort of thing story
telling is what I am best known for.

Thanks for the response! I am learning a little at a time and a lot of
littles end up becoming a lot.

Hi Chad!

Don't fret - lots of storytellers tell stories in the first person. I do
both, and deliver what ever style seems appropriate for the venue. Most of
my first person stories are probably not as edgy as yours, but there are
plenty of tellers out there who go to the edge and beyond.

You might want to check out the Fringe Tent or Fringe Stage at different
