In the search bar I can type a name and it enters the phone number automatically. But when I receive a call, only the number is displayed which is really annoying because I have to find the number in the address book (which doesn't even find it most of the time) and there's no way of knowing who called.

Any implementation for this?

I'm having the same issue but the description is quite misleading.

Actually Telephone does match the entries against the address book, but only for exact matches. I.e. if the address book has a phone entry 026 123 456  and the SIP provider signals 026123456 Telephone does the match and shows the name of the caller. However I'm using international prefixes in my address book (i.e. +41 26 123 456) and in this case Telephone can't find the name. I have to use the international prefixes else synching to my mobile is useless and I could not convince my SIP provide to signal with prefixes.

It would be a great addition and help if Telephone could do the matching including prefixes. I guess this would only be possible if one
- can add a "default country code" per SIP account which replaces a single leading zero (in europe at least), OR
- if Telephone allows calling of an external shell script that does the number conversion (ideally again per account)

I'd happily pay $20 for this feature. Maybe some others as well?

When detecting a match, by default last 10 digits of the phone number (after stripping from spaces and dashes) are taken into account. You can adjust this from the Terminal.

For example, to set it to 8, quit Telephone, open Terminal, and run:
defaults write com.tlphn.Telephone SignificantPhoneNumberLength -integer 8

To revert back to default:
defaults delete com.tlphn.Telephone SignificantPhoneNumberLength

My fault, it should have been documented somewhere, sorry.
