Yes, some of the DSL connections in Karachi is down since Thursday,
November 19, 2009 and after knocking all the doors at PTCL my problem
is just now resolved. I was told that it was a small glitch at PTCL

Ufone is not leveraged in that sense. It borrowed 2 billion from its parent
company PTCL last year. Another billion was injected as equity in it. So, I
do not think Ufone as such will have any bigger problems ...

Any one who gets an "attractive" offer wants to quit from Pakistani
market - :) no? Except Etsalat which still owe's more that 600 Million
USD to Pakistani Govt on account of PTCL and ufone stakes.

However Nagueeb was very vocal in past 2-3 investors conferences that
he is staying in pakistani Market .

Both Warid and Ufone are also highly leveraged I do not know about Telenor
and CMPK.
A share swap deal does not require cash so i think a merger could be an
option to cut costs and increase profitability.

I personally feel that Mr. Sawiris will exit Pakistani market provided he
gets an attractive offer.

I think there will be some consolidation in the industry. It can be either
Warid + Telenor or any other combination. I wounder if any two players
decide to merge than how Competition Commission of Pakistan or PTA is

Usman - I think they said it for Pakistan and Warid Pakistan Top
Management gave this statement and not Warid Abu Dhabi.

Personally speaking there is no reason why Warid would sell to
Telenor,they have already sold stakes to Singtel which is more than
enough for them.

other is cash. Abu Dhabi group would not mind off-loading all the 70% stake

i think we also need to mention Dr. Atta ur Rehman in this list. I think he
was the one who introduce Caller Party Pay (CPP) mechanism and he also
pushed PTCL to launch its mobile company (Ufone). I think introduction of
CPP and launch of Ufone completely changed the dynamics of the industry.

I believe Mr. Faisal of Fascom has also contributed a lot. Almost in the era
of DigiCom (The pioneers of live Internet), Fascom was quite able to provide
good quality Internet and sustained for a long time. If I am not wrong, they
were charging around Rs. 300/- per hr for a speed of 2.4 or 14.4 in
