Yes, it is down. One of my friend also called me and told me all government websites are down. What I knew long ago was that these websites are hosted at NTC. Any info on that?

It appears to work for me, but I get sent to

http://202.83.164.26/wps/portal

Is that normal?

Their HTML is terrible.

Pak.gov.pk works while pakistan.gov.pk does not. Seems some redirection issue.

Internal links like http://www.pakistan.gov.pk/divisions/ContentInfo.jsp?DivID=23&cPath=221_227&ContentID=754 working.

I get the error "Error 404: Initialization of one or more services failed" which may be due to some service initialization failure. Pity their tech team is sleeping over it.

Their NS show server4sale.net - why can't the govt host its own NS?

I thought all the gov. website requests were going to an ISP in North
America for filtering and were than routed/proxyed to NTC servers in
Pakistan...this was to avoid the DDoS on the gov websites....

http://toolbar.netcraft.com/site_report?url=http://www.pakistan.gov.pk

Seems the IP address the outside world has is 66.252.7.187 where there
is a redirect to the NTC ip address.......

An error 404 [application initialization] had occurred in the
Electronic Government Directorate managed servers.
It was not a DOS attack.
However, the main portal of Pakistan [www.pakistan.goc.pk] and some
other ministries has remained disconnected with online global world
for more than five hours.
But still it’s a question mark over the ‘Information Security’ level
of Pakistan’s online websites management.

Majid,
People who are using PK DNS or PK ISP DNS they get direct to NTC ip directly and the non PK DNS gets US IP.
