can ne1 giv an insight as to what ISP dominates in what major cities;
besides PTCL?

I think Kami has a very valid question, this being a telecom/IT related group, its a normal question to ask what the market share of individual ISPs is.

"Cybernet & Wateen"

doesn't really address this query.

Perhaps, a few technical details by the proponents on why they feel a particular ISP has a dominant market share?

• Cities served
• # of broadband users (per city)
• # of dialup ports (per city)
• any special notes of interest
  

etc, so a fair evaluation on market share can be attempted at,
although wasn't a study like this conducted by PTA in recent past?

This is not marketing, I have never been part of Micronet even they are not my relatives/friends.

But this is the matter of fact and personal experience(as an old customer).

This is the fault of all Pakistanis (including me), That we never appreciate others... Might be we feel jealous and insulted if someone is good in his work and we are not able to do so...

B) WorldCall , Wateen , Brain in Lahore

C) Nayatel, Wateen, Worldcall in Islamabad

PTCl is on first position bcoz of thier fast processing of installation.

secondly ,LDN and Wateen have highest customer base in ISB,Pindi,

Micronet also has good customerbase bt restricted only to IBS Pindi.

 

LDN customer base countrywide is round about 20000, while 6 7000 in Isb including corporate.

 

micronet approximately 4800 total customers in twin cities.

4800 seems a little low. I was of the impression that Nayatel+Micronet has more market share than LDN (for ISB and RWP).

Though they have the biggest WiMAX network in the world, I doubt Wateen has gained much market share. The few people that I know to have it, now use it mostly as a backup link.

well.. lets say v take provincial capitals as our target cities i.e.
isb. (being capital), khi, pesh., quetta nd lhr.
and for ISPs we consider only major 1's dat hav substantial market
presence (both consumer+corp.)
howz dat fer a start..

nd on PTA's recent research.. well PTA being govt. owned yea recent =
'07 and da material i got was based on overall pak. telco. growth..
damn idiots.. dey have given market share of Telco companies; not
ISPs.

well...at the end of 2007 there not more than 86000 broadband
customers in Pakistan. PTCL and Wateen in that period of time started
making speed customers. PTCL, due to its easy installation has been
able to make more than 100000 customers, means whatever number the
entire industry made, PTCL did in few months time just because of
already installed facilities in its exchanges and other benefits of
course. Whereas Wateen has so far created approximately 25000
customers whereas according to claims from their management, the
number should been in Lacks. but most of us know that they are having
technical issues which they are trying to overcome but still there is
a long way to go. even they have not been able to install the billing
software. I have just come to know that for the last 2 months they are
short of "Jupiter" the outside equipment and without this equipment
their inner modem has been not been very successful.
for the record, LDN still have 15000 customers and they have run out
of capacity. In the next couple of months they are coming with
something big.
