I saw this news ticker on Business Plus channel today (14th Nov.) If
this is running on the TV then this news might be confirmed. So what
will be outcome of this deal in near and far future. Please discuss.

Aamir, there is no "CONFIRMATION' in unconventional media as well !!! as far
as i know - Yes there is an understanding at higher level between both
managements however the modalities are still being discussed and no decision
has been reached till now.

Actually there are two scenarios for payment, one is through stocks and
other is cash. Abu Dhabi group would not mind off-loading all the 70% stake
in Warid if required to do so. Bank Alfalah definitely gains alot through
this transaction.
If you look at the figures, it turns out to be USD114/Subscriber if its
$1.3B for 63%. Therefore, looking at Ufone, that adds substantially to the
value of PTCL stock. Basically, whether this deal goes through or not, main
thing is to look at Ufone now. Ufone is adding alot of value to PTCL.
Therefore, buy PTCL!

I think there will be some consolidation in the industry. It can be either
Warid + Telenor or any other combination. I wounder if any two players
decide to merge than how Competition Commission of Pakistan or PTA is
likely to react to protect consumers.

*Lahore:* Warid Telecom (Pvt.) Ltd. is a leading telecom company in Pakistan
that is recognized as the most reliable and steadfast telecom operator.
Warid Telecom has issued an official statement in response to the rumor on
‘Warid Telecom Merger’. The statement endorses the un-authenticity of the
news circulated in the media and it explains clearly that no such
information is issued by the company Management. Warid Telecom is a
responsible organization that always keep the public update on any
developments. (PR).

Well ... lets see ... Warid has come out with a statement does hold some
worth, but its important to see that they've just offloaded 51% stake in
their African operations. Perhaps, it has gained space and time for the next
buyout. However, there are many reasons to believe Warid's buyout.
Consolidation is due in Pakistani market. Telenor has launched Easypaisa and
is broadening its base/scope with every passing day which is a clear signal
they are in no mood to quit. Warid has had many problems both financially
and in terms of a proper management. Wateen's CEO recently stated they are
going for IPO which means Abu Dhabi group is no longer ready to inject
equity in it. We cannot predict, but there are signs for Warid in trouble
...
