Interesting development:

http://propakistani.pk/2012/02/16/telenor-gets-more-stakes-in-vimpelcom-drops-arbitration-claims/

In simple words, 5 out of 11 directors at VimpelCom board (who directly manages Mobilink) come from Telenor International, a group that also controls Telenor Pakistan.

This translates into a proposition according to which Mobilink and Telenor Pakistan will be owned by same group (Telenor International) at a parent group level. The outcome can potentially form a cartel in Pakistan which may not be favorable for competitors such as Ufone, Warid Telecom and CMPak.

Any comments? :)

I had written months ago that this will happen. IMHO, its a breach of
antitrust.
CCP, will you ever get out from your slumber?

I am just wondering if both TP & Mobilink will go for shopping in
license/spectrum sale in march? Doesnt sound logical to me.
& if either of them ( TP ) will go for spectrum, with Warid out of
race, it leaves 3 licenses & 3 competitors :)
& if Zong buys the license for new operator, it means 3 license for 3G/
4G & 2 competitors ( Ufone & TP).....
The pessimistic view!

On other hand, we see that Telenor & Batelco are quitting India &
Etisalat is underwriting its shares. In this scenario, PK is the best
place to invest for cellular operators!
PK has always been the heaven for big investors btw!
This was the optimistic view :)

Something mean of above two views gonna happen in March...........
