The marketing department gave us the burgeoning news flash today with a "Have a great day!" message in the end.

As per the new Finance Bill approved by Government of Pakistan, GST has been raised to 21% from 15%. New GST is applicable to all telecommunication services offered by all mobile operators of Pakistan from 1st of July, 2008.

Hiked up petrol, gas & CNG prices with an increment in the electricity charges and now this too ... Bring it on!

This news was like BOMB when the budget speech was on air !!!!!!!!!! I guess you missed that...Most interestingly, Go to FBR website and check the salient features of Budget 2008-09 and you will find TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES AS LUXURY ITEMS and thats why deserved to be TAXED heavily.

What a pitty that we even cant see the things in right perspectives. Above all it is against all recommendations made from Telecom Industry and Ministry of IT.

Lets see what happens NEXT

Come on guys. In the country that has shortage of basic stuff like power, wheat, and sugar (at times), is not telecom a luxury?? Come to think of it...
