I want to have a page like Recentchanges, but specifically for talk pages. The idea is to improve the ability of people to ask and answer questions on any talk page.

To do one namespace is easy using the dropdown menu on the Recentchanges page (e.g. the  article talk recent changes) but I can't do multiple namespaces together (talk, user talk, category talk etc).

I tried combining the feeds - see http://appropedia-talk-feed.feedoor.com/ - but the feeds show the diffs of each edit, and I think it's much better to have a concise format like the actual Recentchanges page.

I've had no response on the mwusers forum or the mediawiki-L list, but a guy I met at OLPC (Seth Woodworth) made a suggestion: javascript colud be used to extract and combine the relevant parts of the variaus talk pages.

I have no knowledge of javascript, and don't know how hard it is. Any suggestions? Volunteers?

Thanks!

Hi Chris - if I understand what you are trying to do correctly, I recommend using the DPL extension http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList - its quite powerful and works well.

That does look like a very interesting option. We'll have to see about getting it installed on a test installation of the site, and see how it goes.

Thanks!
