hi all - i'm usually the first to complain about mediawiki functionality cos it doesn't suit my whitebread googleized need for hand feeding however i do also appreciate the need to engage with these learning curves for the greater good.  so i'm writing to you today from this ambivalent headspace to ask for examples of any mediawiki sites you know of which are beautiful, practical, easy to use, elegantly structured and so on.  take your geeky hats *off* and find me sites that i can show to other mortals so that i can learn to love mediawiki AND convince other people.

thanks in advance

btw anything that looks like wikipedia, the mediawiki site itself and can be safely excluded...  just so you know :-)

Thanks for the heads up, sparker! ;) A collection of mediawiki templates installed on my test site @ http://jaspercat.net/wiki/
There's an account setup so you can login and switch between the 9 different skins currently installed. Details on the homepage.

Information on the extensions I suggest is here - http://jaspercat.net/wiki/index.php?title=Plugins

Ciao,

Hi,

An interesting example of closed and open content is and mediawiki is http://makeinternettv.org/ - Which is controlled and closed   Then that links into http://mitvwiki.org/Main_Page - Which is site looks OK and is open

Cheers

wow brent - i already had this site bookmarked as beautiful/functional but didn't realise it was a mediawiki so that's an excellent surprise.

thanks also to robin and gnuchris (and pgpete too - i take back the ray gun quip) - very interesting to see the different design ideas.

keep 'em coming.

i can't guarantee the subjectively-experienced aesthetics of each, but i tag mw sites i find of some interest as below - and amongst them i suspect you might find some examples of interest:
