You become a member when you have been fuctorised..............a simple, effective and
embarrasing induction rite.

Oh, and in Oz it's BYOG - grog, not booze.

Hi, How’s it going?

Do you remember bumping into a guy at the (closed)
Marine Museum in Searsport? He was walking out from a
meeting with the Sierra Club. (We hoped he’d let us
into the museum!) Anyway, we chatted for a while, and
it turns out he was the Director of Transportation for
the State of Maine. Nice guy, an engineer who could
work with environmentalists. He was just appointed
director of the NH DOT, in the hopes that he can break
some of the eco-highway stalemates here. I hope so.
The roads are getting pretty bad.

It’s VERY cold here, below freezing most of the time.
There are still two feet of snow on the ground. I
wonder what the spring flowers under the snow are
doing? It isn’t supposed to be like this. More snow is
forecast for the next two days.

Anyway, we’re getting lots of projects done in the
house. You should see the upstairs now! We just hung
one of Jaah’s large silk weavings above the stairs.

What are you planning for Kuching? Want to join the RI
hash for a pre-lube or a post lube if none of the ones
that Kuching organizes don’t cut the mustard? They’ll
probably have headhunter pre-lubes. The post-lubes may
be restricted, as they seem to want us to attend a
Sarawak music festival post-IH.

It looks like about the same crowd as last time, with
a few substitutes.

I just thought of something else that might interest
our group. How about five days in the Celebes , in a
place called Tanatarajah (or Tarajahland), which is
utterly fascinating. Great mountain scenery, wonderful
people (in the true sense of the word), with
fascinating traditional architecture, and astounding
burial practices. It’s a short (scary) flight from
Bangkok , and maybe KL. It’s really off the beaten
track, and all the better for that.

You been there?

OOT
