Subject: DRAFT of TaskPaper 2.0 Press release
Bangor, Maine - November 24, 2008 - Hog Bay Software is delighted to
announce TaskPaper 2.0, their simple list making software for Mac OS
X. TaskPaper is a plain text to-do list that's surprisingly adept.
Unlike alternative organizers, TaskPaper's text based interface
provides paper-like simplicity.

TaskPaper 2.0 adds:

- Powerful new search system.
- System wide Quick Entry Window
- Rich and complete AppleScript support
- Rule based theme system to format your lists.
- Drag and drop support for quickly moving entries.
- Optional Projects List for one click access to any project.
- One years worth of performance and user interface improvements.

TaskPaper is designed as an alternative to more complex "Getting
Things Done" applications. TaskPaper's focus is on the fundamentals of
creating and completing to-do lists. TaskPaper's display is extremely
clear and compact. Creating, completing, and deleting tasks can all be
accomplished with single keystrokes. All information is stored in a
simple text file that is easy to take with you, and edit where
TaskPaper isn't available. Even on Windows.

TaskPaper is a simple, but powerful system. It easily manages
thousands of tasks in a single file. Its search and filter system
provides flexibility that even the most powerful applications like
Things and OmniFocus cannot match. TaskPaper's full AppleScript
support and simple plain text file format make it easy to integrate
into your specific workflow in ways that are not possible with other
tools.

Supported Languages:
* US English

System Requirements:
* Requires Mac OS X v10.5 or later

Pricing and Availability:
TaskPaper may be purchased from the Hog Bay Software web site for
$29.95.

Just a small nitpicky thing. Under "TaskPaper 2.0 adds:", some entries
end with full-stops and some don't. My preference would be no full-
stops as they are not sentences - but it should at least be
consistent.

Otherwise it looks good to me!

Jesse,

Two very, very nitpicky English grammar points:

1. "...their simple list making..." should be either "...its simple
list making..." or "...a simple list making...."

2. "Unlike alternative organizers, TaskPaper's text based
interface..." should be either "Unlike the interfaces of alternative
organizers, TaskPaper's text-based interface..." or "Unlike
alternative organizers, TaskPaper has a text-based interface
providing...."

I wouldn't have mentioned it, if it was just an email; but, since it
is a press release, I thought you'd want it to be perfect.

This sentence seems awkward -

(I picture trying to click on entries that are moving quickly.) Try
changing it to "Drag and drop support allows moving entries quickly
and efficiently."

Best wishes,

This is good news, as it implies you are near release of the final
version of TaskPaper 2.0. Yippee!

However, keep in mind that many of use still use at least one machine
with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, so do not eliminate the download link for
TaskPaper 1.0.3.

Best wishes,
Clint

This may be overboard, but I had a free moment and thought I'd offer
up some alternative verbiage which you are free to use or ignore.

Bangor, Maine - November 24, 2008 - Hog Bay Software is delighted to
announce TaskPaper 2.0, a simple yet suprisingly adept list maker.
TaskPaper takes the humble to-do list to the next level with
sophisticated presentation, data entry, and querying. Yet, it retains
the full power and interoperability of a plain text file.

A year in the making, TaskPaper 2.0 adds:
- A powerful new search system simple enough to immediately grasp but
sophistated enough for a power user
- A Quick Entry Window that can be accessed system-wide to capture
your thoughts without disrupting your work
- Rich and complete AppleScript support to extend its capabilities
- A customizable and rule-based theme system to make your lists look
the way you want
- Drag and drop support as well as additional shortcuts for rapidly
managing your lists
- A Projects List for one click access to any project
- A bunch of
additional performance and small user interface improvements

TaskPaper is a refreshing alternative to more complex task managers.
TaskPaper's focus is on the fundamentals of creating and completing to-
do lists. The TaskPaper interface is extremely clear and compact.
Creating, completing, and deleting tasks can all be accomplished with
a single keystroke. Information is stored in a simple text file that
is easy to share, take with you, and edit - even where TaskPaper isn't
available. Even on Windows.

TaskPaper is a simple, but powerful system. It easily manages
thousands of tasks in a single file. Its search and filter system
provides flexibility that even the most powerful applications cannot
match. TaskPaper's full AppleScript support and simple plain text file
format make it easy to integrate into your workflow in ways that are
not possible with other tools.

For this feature, be sure that you mean it about the theming. If you
use themes as a selling point, you really have to support them (and
not, for instance, call them a “headache” as you do in the User’s
Guide).

Best wishes,
Clint
