My phone keeps crashing and I think it may be a Tasker associated issue.

I have several profiles that are activated by gps and or wifi.  the phone seems to crash most often when switiching from the mobile profile (i.e. if it has power and headphone plugged in) to a wifi one (i.e. it is near a mac address for either work or home).

I am using an LG-P999 (g2x) and android 2.3.4 with tasker 1.6u1m

Has anyone seen this or have a solution?  how can I get good and usable logs to the dev/community?

thanks.

What happens when you try switching manually while taker is disabled. do you see the crashes then?

Stock ROM?
If an app is crashing the phone, it's probably a ROM issue.

That being said, try getting a logcat (using ADB).

As GermainZ wrote, it's probably a ROM problem. An app should not be
able to crash your phone no matter
what it does.

It's also most likely triggered by wifi changes. That's the only thing
I've seen in the last 3 years that causes a phone crash.

yes, it's a stock ROM.  I do have it rooted though if that makes a difference.

any ideas on a work around?  theres no nfc on it so I can't trigger via that.method, though it would be AWESOME!

maybe QR?

I've disabled the wifi reacting profiles and made widgets of the tasks.
so, it's sort of manually done.  will update over the next few days about crashes.

thanks.

24 hours and no random reboots.
I disabled profiles containing wifi contexts or removed the wifi contexts from the profiles.

if this is indeed the reason for the reboots, what are my mitigating steps?  location/cell just doesn't seem to work very well for me (I think the P999 from lg just doesn't do well with the gps etc).

If I remember right, this could often be worked-around by changing the
advanced wifi
setting (Android settings).

It's probably related to both Tasker and Android trying to do
something
with wifi when the screen goes on or off.

Rats.  mine was already set to Never so I clicked it again in hopes that it will re-set the value.

if you can think of anything else, please do let me know.

thanks.

UPDATE:
So far there hasnt been an unexplained reboot.  I think something in my settings was corrupted and re-selecting 'never' may have put it right.

will know more by next week when I open it up to all my wifi-profiles.

Well, it looks like that was the issue.  I've had no random reboots since  I "rechoose" the 'never' value.
