The writer there, aka me, is using a custom 4.1.2 ROM. Haven't heard of that issue before, but it sounds peculiar, as most of the time there's a setting for it in the Secure Settings plug-in if something has been removed from stock Tasker. A warning is also common in such cases. It would explain why so many have trouble with this profile though...

On a sidenote, this is exactly why I hate posting complete instructions, as it creates the expectation that something will work beyond my phone, whereas the reality is that it might not.

I've attempted the recently posted article  on Pocketables that mimics the "Wave to Answer" feature on the Galaxy S4.  I was having issues getting it to answer the phone, and wittled the problem down to "Take Call" not working ( I created a profile/task to simply answer the phone after 3 seconds to test that portion).  Searching through this group, I see that there were issues with Gingerbread and Google locking out that functionality.  However, I'm curious because they have it working in that Pocketables article, so is it supposed to be working in ICS now?  The writer there uses an SII apparently, and I don't know what version of Android that is.

If the Take Call option is still not working post-Gingerbread, is it just there for legacy phones?  Perhaps a warning popup might mention that of that is the case?

Thanks

Wow, I never realized that Secure Settings might have that functionality.  I've owned the full version of the plugin since I originally purchased Tasker, and never really explored it.  Sure enough, after switching the Take Call task out with the Secure Settings version, that task now works perfectly.

By the way, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your columns.  I look forward to every article you post.  It is such an amazing resource!  And I understand what you mean about 'complete instructions'.  I agree that a general program flow is better than explicit instructions, as there are far too many variables (no pun intended..   ok, maybe intended a little bit, lol).  Thanks for your help!

Oh, I didn't realize Secure Settings had it myself when I wrote that... my logic was that I didnt find it in there, meaning it likely wasnt a common issue that Take Call isn't working, but I found it when looking a second time. I should add that to the post.

Glad you like the posts, much appreciated. I think it shows well why I don't like step by step setups since I now just edited the thing for the fourth time to compensate for issues I didn't have myself xD
