Hi all,

I am a Tasker newbie. I imported the missed notification reminder
profile from the wiki. I would like to have reminders ONLY for missed
calls and missed Google Voice voicemails and texts, but not for my
gmail or for calendar events. Can I modify the profile accordingly?

Thanks!

Once it's on your phone you can modify it as much as you want. Just
leave the more general profile on the wiki alone and you're good to
go.

I have the profiles on my phone. I just don't know how to modify them
accordingly to get only reminders for GV notifications and missed
calls.

You should able to do it, I did not download the profile, but read the wiki. It looks like each app has it's own notify, so could you not just rid of the apps you don't want to be reminded of? It looks it like it checks calls and texts based off of the 'owner', nothing more. I think you could just get rid of the bit that checks the owners of the apps you don't want. You would have some stuff left over that does nothing, though, because it belonged to the other apps.

There's a base profile that causes the reminder task to start, based
on the %MISNOT variable. Profiles that set (trigger) the base profile
all have "set" in their name. Profiles that stop the reminder all
have "clear" in their name. Profiles pertaining to a particular
notification will have that app name in the profile name. You can
disable (or delete) the profiles for the notifications you don't want
reminders for. So, if you don't want Gmail reminders, just disable
(or delete) any of the profiles that contain Gmail in the name. The
same goes for Calendar, Messaging, etc.

Uncle Mike,

I did as you said. I deleted the profiles that involve applications
that I do not want notifications for. Thanks for your help :-)

However I have a new problem. The profile "missed reminder
notification" is active all the time, even when I have no
notifications. How can that be, since there should be nothing to set
the variable? I am so confused!

If the reminder notification is still present in the notification bar,
you should be able to just tap that notification to clear the variable
that causes it to be there in the first place. If that doesn't work
for some reason, you can manually clear the variable using Variable
Clear %MISNOT via the Menu > More > Run an Action option in the Tasker
menus.

Also, I've see issues where SMS messages cause the unread status that
Tasker uses to remain stuck. In my case I believe it was an outgoing
message that I accidentally sent to a landline number. Once I deleted
the offending message, the problem went away.

Just tapping on the notification didn't work, but manually clearing it
by running an action and clearing the %MISNOT variable seems to have
worked. I will keep watching it to make sure the Missed Reminder
Notification Profile doesn't activate itself again when it shouldn't.

Thank you so much for your help and for making the Missed Notification
Reminder Profiles!

Man, there is so much to learn with Tasker; I feel a bit overwhelmed,
and yet amazed at all it can do.

Am having trouble with the reminder task not firing with google voice
text messages. Works fine for the messaging app. If the screen is
on, the reminder task fires for google voice. If its off, it won't
trigger. Added a simple task to test and it seems the notification
event won't trigger for google voice with the screen off. Ideas?

The base profiles are working for me, which is great. But I'd like
more specialized notifications based on type of event or sender

For example, I'd like different sounds for calendar, phone, and text
reminders. I'd also like to try different reminders based on texter
or caller.

Any Ideas?

One of the assumptions in developing the profiles was that a single reminder would be used for all notifications.  How you would modify the profiles to provide more detailed reminders depends on if you want the individual reminders (if there's more than one active) to occur at the same time and frequency, or if you want different frequencies for different types of notifications.

The easiest way would be to change all refernces to %MISNOT to something specific for each type of notification, then duplicate the profiles as needed, changing %MISNOT as necessary.  If you use only one notification type per profile, you could greatly simplify the set/clear profiles by eliminating all the multiplication and division.
