I looked at AutoRemote. I'm the kind of computer user that likes to keep things clean and minimalist. What does AutoRemote and it's associated aps do that i could not set up myself with Tasker alone?

Depending on what exactly you use NMA for, AutoRemote is likely a better option altogether. It replaces most of what NMA does, but started as a Tasker plugin, rather than have that be thrown on afterwards--

Anyone who has used NMA would understand what it means. The NMA website will generate a random email address that when it receives an email, it will be forwarded to the associated device running NMA. And they can be deleted when you don't want to use them any more. For me, this is the most compelling reason to use it.
For example, I used one for my previous employer's server monitoring system when I was on call. When I left the company, I didn't need to worry about cleaning up the monitoring system to prevent receiving alarms, I simply went to the NMA website and deleted the corresponding email address.
With enough time, money, and effort, I'm sure this could be replicated with AutoRemote and an ISP that allows you to create email addresses. But it's seamlessly integrated to NMA, so why reinvent the wheel?
