Subject: Tao of PLEAC?
Hi!

I'd like to bring to the attention of this forum that an interesting
project exists that uses the famous 'Perl Cookbook' as a blueprint and
implements the recipes provided there in differnt programming
languages. It provides a nice means of showing how one's favorite
language can be used to solve everyday problems and to demonstrate the
advantages and disadvantages (no language is perfect) of using the
given language:

PLEAC, that is the Programming Language Examples Alike Cookbook

Following the great Perl Cookbook (by Tom Christiansen & Nathan
Torkington, published by O'Reilly) which presents a suite of common
programming problems solved in the Perl language, this project aims to
gather fans of programming, in order to implement the solutions in
other programming languages

http://pleac.sourceforge.net/

Sections with different degree of coverage exist for quite a number of
languages. It may be a more challenging project to create a tao
section of PLEAC than solving certain problms from comp.lang.python
(which I am not subscribed to by the way) but it would provide an
excellent source of reference.

Hi!

I had a look at the PLEAC project, very
interesting. I will create a Tao section,
and solve those problems little by little,
and in this way I will find something lacking
in Tao and some bugs.

By the way, I saw the date in your email was
May 10, But I received it just last night,
it appears on the google group just since last
night. It's strange. When I post to the google
group, it appears within some seconds, maybe
it's because I used google acount ?! :-)
