WAS JESUS THE TRUE, LEGITIMATE HEIR
TO THE THRONE OF DAVID, AS CLAIMED?

Matthew traces Jesus' ancestry through the Davidic heir named
JECONIAH. But Jeconiah carried a CURSE, as stated in
Jeremiah 22:30,
"Thus says the LORD, 'Write this man down childless,
A man who will not prosper in his days;
For no man of his descendants will prosper
Sitting on the throne of David
Or ruling again in Judah."

So, the Romans would have simply acted as the instruments of that curse,

making sure Jesus would NOT sit on the throne of David.

And even if we ignore THAT pseudo-genealogy and go to LUKE,
who insists that JOSEPH was a descendant of David, we find that
the descent would have been through NATHAN, not SOLOMON!
But YHWH is said to have promised SOLOMON that the dynasty
would be only through HIS, Solomon's descendants, so Joseph, an heir
of NATHAN according to LUKE, would not have qualified even if he
was the natural father of Jesus.
And, of course, the nonsense about one of those being the genealogy of
Mary makes the disqualification DOUBLY TRUE, since the maternal
descent did not count for heirship to the throne.

The question is, then, what was the "angel" talking about when,
according to LUKE, he told Mary to let herself get pregnant because
"you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name Him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High;
and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David".

What sort of deception was THAT!

wording your titles to sound less like an arrogant ass. THEN..maybe it'll
take the newcomers a few lines into your post at least before they figure it

As a rule, genealogies bore me. For this reason I find Numbers and
Leviticus, loaded with genealogies and petty fogging rules, to be the
two most boring books in the Bible. So my short answer really to the
above comments by Libertarius is that I don't really care.

That there are 3 genealogies given by the Gospel writers indicates
some confusion over the matter. I wonder if during the exile to
Babylon and the destruction of many of the Temple records, if some
parts of the genealogies were lost.

Secondly what written sources were the Gospel writers using when they
quoted these genealogies, or were they simply trying to recall to mind
the "genealogy" of Christ years after his Ascension? Presumably the
readers of the time had no real difficulty in relating Christ's
genealogy to the promises, if they accepted Christ in the first place.
If they did not accept him, a printed pedigree in gold embossed
letters would have made no difference.

Thirdly faith in Christ does not depend on a slavish devotion to
literal Scripture. Christ accused the Pharisees of "searching the
Scriptures looking for Me, and yet you will not come to Me". I have
seen this same attitude in modern day churches, of all places, where
the letter of the Scripture is more important than the intent of
Christ's teachings.

In a nutshell, so there are conflicts? Who cares?

If Genealogy was so important Paul wouldn't advised us against it.
The letter kills but the Spirit gives life.
The Apostles were not preaching genealogy to the crowd, but Jesus as the
Messiah. If you think that genealogy invalidates their testimony then
let the true Messiah get up because Jesus is not. If nobody can claim
this title to this day then common sense requires us to just accept
the fact that without Jesus there is no mercy for Israel.

It is not for you to make this point anyway, the jews already did but it made
no difference because the time the Messiah was supposed to be revealed
is now history for 2000 years.

Very well said Bob;

The power of Christ comes in the believing, Those that He sets free
are free indeed.
Jesus was empowered from God.
Authentic power has it roots in the deepest source of being. Authentic
power cannot be brought, inherited or hoarded. An authentically
empowered person is incapable of making anyone or anything a victim.
An authentically empowered person is one who is so strong, so
empowered that the idea of using force against another is not part of
his or her consciousness... Chris
