On Meet The Press, Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004
Eleanor Clift announced that Iraq has indeed
become a quagmire although she added that it's
not like Vietnam.
I think there's a good chance that it will become
worse than Vietnam was.

I have repeatedly said all this, now the mainstream media
admits that Iraq is indeed a quagmire, but they still insist
that it's not like Vietnam.

President Bush also denied that Iraq is another Vietnam when
questioned by a reporter in the White House Press Room.
Did you notice how much trouble he had answering questions?
How he speaks haltingly and pauses often in mid sentence?
Do you think Bush wears a hidden mini ear bud radio receiver
that his handlers use to tell him what to say?
--Remember Reagan? - During a press conference he grabbed his
"hearing aid" earpiece and said, "What?...oh, OK."
I witnessed it myself many years ago live on TV.

I think our leaders and the industries that tell them what
to do knew all along that Iraq would turn into a real war.
Destroying three mosques ensured it.
"Returning fire" or not - shooting up three mosques means
there will never be peace between the US and Moslems in the
region. How many Moslems were killed as they worshipped God?
Punishing the Iraqi people with over a decade of continuous
bombings of their infrastructure, culminating in the invasions
of Afghanistan and Iraq didn't help either.
There are still hundreds of thousands of homeless, "displaced"
Iraqis who need help, but they ain't gettin' it because
guarding the oil is more important.

BTW, does anyone notice that GASOLINE PRICES have risen in the
wake of the Iraqi invasion?
Iraq had "Weapons of mass [oil] production" and this threat
to the peace and prosperity of oil company profits had to be
dealt with.
Our kids are over there dying so that we can pay more at the pumps.

Bush promised us that Iraqi affairs will be turned back over
to the Iraqi people by June 3rd.
How do you expect the Iraqi people to cooperate with US after
being treated so badly?

Now there's a ceasefire planned, but ceasefires tend to
become "refires" in a hurry.
We are being jerked around and played for fools [again], people.

Yes, I still believe bin Laden was a patsy and that our
ruling industries ordered our government to bring down the
three Trade Center buildings because they needed the war.
"It's the economy, stupid."

I pray that this war does indeed end quickly and that our troops
come home soon, but if the body bags start piling up like cordwood
there will be protests that will make the Vietnam era look like
a cake walk.

How many more lies will We the People tolerate?
WMD - where?
Bin Laden bombed the WTC? - Where's the proof?
Oh, yeah, those grainy, doctored "bin Laden's Home Videos." B.S.
"The Iraqis welcome US as liberators." - Read the news, folks.
A million or more Iraqis have died so far from hunger, disease and
lack of medical care, including up to 500,000 children during the
sanctions.
"Rebels, Insurgents, Terrorists." Nope - Resistance fighters trying to
drive out Western invaders.

How many more innocent Iraqi men, women and children will die in this
war of "Liberation" and how many more of our troops will spill their own
blood in exchange for Iaqi oil?
And can we still blame Saddam for the innocent Iraqis who are still
dying from sickness and hunger? $11 Billion a month for the war and we
can't provide food and medicine for the displaced Iraqis?

In the lunchtime (East Coast) Bush-Blair White House address on Friday,
April 16, Bush made a Freudian slip when he said "Our nations fake - FACE
[challenges]"
I think that says it all.

Flame me if you want.
I was flamed for calling a Iraq a [urban combat] "quagmire."
Now it IS, officially, a quagmire.

the main way that it's *like* Viet Nam, is that
it's very cynical cabinet warfare, as with Truman's handling
of Korea. only we had much-more to do with starting this,
thanks to Sir (the Original) George (see
http://tarpley.net/bush25.htm).
is this what "quotidian" means?

Since Bush has made the USA a colony of Israel, we may well face
another oil embargo. Bush has sold our souls to Ariel Sharon and the
Zionist nazis and we will pay the price for supporting their crimes
against the Palestinians. American foreign policy is the root cause
of terrorism (asymmetrical warfare) and it will never end until we
stop supporting Israel's illegal ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from
Palestine itself. Until then, we deserve all the retribution we get!

Yes, those poor Palestinian people are soooo innocent. They are so mild in
nature and don't do anything to anybody.

"Yes, those poor Palestinian people are soooo innocent. They are so

The Palestinians had their land and nation stolen from them by Jews
financed and supported by the USA. Look what we did to Japan just for
a hit and run attack on Pearl Harbor. Palestinians have a right to
defend themselves and the USA is a criminal nation to support the
likes of Ariel Sharon. Just because Hitler was totally wrong, that
does no make Jews totally right. America is not a democracy and we
have allowed the cult of Zionism to run our foreign policy for 44
years. We are a mind controlled nation and our politicians are so
scared of the Jews they are afraid to even say the word 'Zionism' in
public. John Kerry was on television this morning and he made it
clear that a vote for him is also a vote for Ariel Sharon. There are
no Americans running for president, only sold out Israeli agents who
will continue to lead our nation down a rat hole of hypocrisy and
unethical foreign policy,...which we will pay for dearly in the end.

Oh really? Well question here, how did Arafat become a multi-billionaire if we
never gave money or support to the Palestinians? He took all that money and
left his people to fight with sticks against a well equipped military. Not
much different than Saddam, he did the same with all of the "oil for food"
money. Put it in his bank account and left his people to die. Those two have
a lot in common, I guess that's why Saddam sent money to the familes of
Palestinian suicide bombers.

Sharon seems to be the only one interested in making peace there, Arafat is all
talk. When Arafat thought the cameras were off, he openly stated to his people
the only way for peace there is to exterminate all Jewish people. How do you
make a deal with a guy like that? It would be like America making a deal with
Al Quaeda.

Truth be known, Arafat has no plans for peace. Even when they got close,
Arafat said "No Deal". And not because of what he didn't get but because he
does not want peace and only sympathy. That land there was nothing but a
worthless desert until the Jews fixed it up and made a society out of it. Now
that it's functional, Arafat wants the Jews to give them everything they worked
for and just leave or be killed. That would be like the American Indians
insisting that we give America to them and us go back to the countries our
families originated from.

Actually, fighting with rocks and sticks is a good P.R. move. It makes the
well-equipped military look bad for shooting them.

Lol, I agree. I think besides greed, that's Arafats intention.

Ummm...It really IS a quagmire now.

I was right all along.

Look up my past "Quagmire" posts.

I'm not saying, "Told you so," but, hey, I was right.

I for one was quite skeptical then, given the media lies over how sick
the Iraqis were of their evil dictator, but yes for the record you had
read it precisely. The question is where does it go from here.

Well, it comes from our wallets and goes to the pumps.
And from Social Security and Medicaid to Raytheon.

War in general is good for the economy.
It burns off excess goods and stored resources and spurs
production.
Interest rates are up because we are in the downside of
an economic cycle.
The war is about the economy.
Yes, oil is a prime factor, but war itself is the purpose of
this war.
When the economy picks up and the war becomes more of a drain
than a boost, we might withdraw from the Mid East like we did
from Vietnam - seemingly with our tails between our legs.
(And a semi-puppet government in bed with American interests.)
But now, just as then, it is the elite industrialists, bankers and
other Capitalists who win.
They're laughing all the way to the bank.

The war certainly does suck up the capital assest claims with no
questions asked. However what we call as economic activity is also the
death of humanity. Not just for the carnage but the mass depletion of
resources that occur on account of greater economic activity
afterwards.

Is this the beginning of the end?
http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/tradecencrimes/page4.html
The Industrial Revolution began in Scotland and England
in the 1700's and industry has been growing ever since.

The signs seem to be there; the rise of fascism in America,
living standards and social services declining.
Industry sucking up the remaining wealth until what?
-- there will be no more economy possible?
Then what?
Massive exterminations of "Non-productive eaters?"
The industrial elites would need to wipe out some 80 to 90% of
the world's population if (when) Capitalism runs out of room
to grow and coping strategies to stay afloat.
http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/tradecencrimes/page359.html

"Anyone who believes that exponential growth can continue
indefinately on a finite planet is either a madman or an
economist." -- Kenneth Boulding

Karl Marx foretold of Capitalism eventually collapsing because
continual growth and dwindling resources would eventually
reach a final crisis.

Peak oil is a reality, the Gulf states have known of this for a decade
or so and started investing in other industries. Global warming is
also happening, from little that I know all it'll take is a couple of
degrees to turn this planet into a very hostile place. These people
are probably hedging their bets on the superior military muscle, but
the consequences of an all out nuclear conflict could poison it for
all. So, I am not sure if they really have figured it all out.

They have long-range plans, "end-game" plans, plans for more plans.
But in the end, there are too many variables they can't foresee or control.

No, they don't know what they're doing.
I think we're all screwed.

I just wonder whether turning billions against is a sound policy,
notwithstanding the military might, sometime with the turn of events
one may need assistance from the unlikliest of sources, with mankind
so dividied wonder it be possible if something cataclsymic
happened. What concerns the most is their track record, they simply do
not plan for contingencies in the medium to long-term range. So I am
afraid you may be proven right again, unless better sense prevails,
and soon!
