You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.
You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping
Americans.
You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.
You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter
Reed.
You didn't get mad when we let a major US city drown.
You didn't get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.
You didn’t get mad when, using reconciliation; a trillion dollars of
our tax dollars were redirected to insurance companies for Medicare
Advantage which cost over 20 percent more for basically the same
services that Medicare provides.
You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark, and
our
debt hit the thirteen trillion dollar mark.
You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America
deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal
wars,
lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich
richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans... oh hell
no.

The Supreme Court didn't stop the recount - there were four, as it
happened. Gore lost each one. Then the New York Times had their own
recount. Gore lost that one, too.
I would have prefered the Supreme Court not get involved in the matter
- the proper place for this issue be decided was Congress. Sadly, Al
Gore launched the lawsuit. Who else was to decide this matter? The
Florida courts?

in US history, and it followed the longest period of growth in US

Stupid fuckin' leftard. The Supreme Court ruling said that Florida
had to declare its electors to the Electoral College by the deadline,
which federal law sets as "the Monday after the second Wednesday in
December" (United States Code, Title 3, Chapter 1, Paragraph 7).
Florida was free to recount ballots forever, but if it wished to
participate in the Electoral College, it was required by federal law
to declare its electors by the deadline. The Supreme Court's function
is to determine the constitutionality of laws, and Article II, Section
1 of the U.S. Constitution says that Congress chooses the day the
Electoral College meets to vote.
Since there is nothing unconstitutional about Congress' choice of the
Monday after the second Wednesday in December (Dec. 18, 2000), the
Supreme Court had no reason to strike the law down, meaning Florida
either solved its election dispute by the deadline, or it could not
participate in the Electoral College. This makes sense, since
postponing the deadline would cause chaos, especially if it was
postponed beyond Jan. 20, the date the Constitution defines as the
beginning of the presidential term.
The SC also cited 3 USC 5, which allows state legislatures to choose
electors directly as long as it is done six days before the Electoral
College meets, Dec. 12 in this case, which is when the SC issued its
ruling.
I'm not defending Bush's presidency in any way, merely pointing out
the complex legal and constitutional issues. But leftards don't care
about silly things like laws or constitutions, they prefer to quack
nonsensical slogans their Party feeds them. Whether you agree with
the SC decision or not, the alternative meant Florida would forgo its
25 delegates to the Electoral College, resulting in 246 votes for Bush
and 266 for Gore. The 12th Amendment stipulates that when no
candidate receives a majority of the 538 electoral votes (270), the
House of Representatives chooses the president, in an unusual method
in which each state delegation counts as a single vote.
Without Florida's electors, the House of the 106th Congress would have
decided the election. As of December 2000, the House was comprised of
222 Republicans, 210 Democrats, and one Independent. Breaking these
representatives down by state is complicated, but here goes:

Majorities of each state delegation:
Democrat: 20 (CA, CT, HI, ME, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, NJ, NY, ND, OR, PA,

As you can see above, the missing Florida electors would invoke the
12th Amendment, taking the election to the House, where Republicans
controlled the majority of state delegations. Assuming that everyone
voted along party lines, Bush would have gotten 24 votes to Gore's 21,
with 4 potentially tied votes -- all of which are needed for Gore to
win.
Also consider that Al Gore's running mate was Joe Lieberman, who went
from being the darling token Jew of the left to a being an object of
wrath and contempt that rivals that the left feels for Sarah Palin.
We might ask ourselves why leftards like Zepp wanted a despicable
traitor like Lieberman to be a "heartbeat away from the presidency."
